Basic Killing Floor Riff
This is a very standard and traditional Blues bass riff. It’s actually a simple version of the riff used for The Killing Floor, and many other Blues songs.
Watch the video, and pay special attention to which notes are used. Then, learn the notes in order, but not in time. Next, play along with the slow version, until you’ve got it down. Remember to increase tempo slowly so that you maintain perfect accuracy. Finally, you can play along with the regular tempo version.
In the video, I show you the notes, one at a time, followed by demos at several speeds, starting with the slowest tempo and returning to normal speed. Finally, I show you some variations so you can see some of things you can do with the riff.
Remember that it’s important to learn the notes first. Don’t allow yourself to slop through it, or you’ll end up making mistakes for a very long time before you actually get it down. If you are patient with yourself, you’ll find that you are able to play it correctly in less time than if you try to rush things.
Have fun, and…
